Interactive Installation, in 2 parts, authentic beer machine, beer, modified beer machine, computer, monitor, interface - each 87 x 84 x 43 cm - 1993/94 Two beer machines are attached to a wall within the visibility range of each other. One of them is a regular machine that dispenses a bottle of beer after a coin has been inserted. The other machine looks similar to the first, however, on the front of the machine is a monitor with the title "Cyber Brew". After inserting a coin, the user is asked to touch a lever which is located inside of the dispensing chute. Through turning and tilting this operational element, the user can fill the contents of a simulated beer bottle into a glass on the monitor. If the bottle is empty, or if the time limit has passed, the program shuts down and a new coin can be inserted to start it up again.
This work was developed at the ZKM, Karlsruhe, and exhibited, among other places, there and in the Kunsthalle Hamburg. [deutsch] |
